Diabetes Orders in Montana - DMMP, Challenges, and Areas to Improve

Thursday, January 11 |  3:00 - 4:00pm  |  Hosted on Zoom!

Accurate, up-to-date, and complete Medical Orders can help drive daily care and action for patients, but how can Diabetes Orders help you in your care for students? In this session, our presenters will address the key components of diabetes orders (DMMP), and dive into current Montana clinical diabetes processes and workflows for school diabetes orders and management plans.

You will learn about current Montana diabetes management plans and resources, look at what diabetes clinics across the state are utilizing, and learn about what you should have (and how to advocate for) when it comes to orders to support your students with diabetes...some of you may only have notes from a PCP, while others receive fully complete state forms!

As always, you will have the opportunity to ask questions, discuss, and share your thoughts on school staff needs to better support your students with diabetes.

About Montana Pediatrics + DiSH

Montana Pediatrics is a Montana-based collaborative of pediatric providers who have come together to increase access to health care and health equity for all of Montana's children. In 2022, the organization partnered with Allison Pollock, MD, a pediatric endocrinologist who began the DiSH ECHO telementoring program as a method of increasing education and support for school health personnel who may care for children with diabetes.

In partnership with the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust, Montana Pediatrics is excited to support our state's school health personnel and the vital role they play in caring for Montana's school-age children with Type 1 Diabetes.

Each DiSH-MT session will include a 10-15 minute presentation by a pediatric diabetes expert followed by a discussion and opportunity to share de-identified cases as a method to promote collaborative learning between school personnel in communities across the state. The presentation portion of each session will be recorded for future reference.
