MT DPHHS free Naloxone Master Training Program grant set to expire

Posted over 5 years ago by Lisa Flanagan

In response to the opioid epidemic, HB333 was passed into law as the Help Save Lives from Overdase Act.  This Act extends liability protections to public safety, firefighters, EMT's, and school nurses when administering Naloxone for a suspected overdose in the course of their duties.  As the prevalence of opioid overdose increases in Montana and with emergency responders stretched thin in rural areas of the state, access to Narcan for immediate administration becomes more important.  The grant funding the free master trainer course is due to expire December 31st, 2018.  Access to free Narcan will continue.
